Rather than give it a name, what would be much more constructive is to let it be a day when all racist murders such as this one and Kriss Donald (and others I'm sure) are remembered.

It is sad to see Stephen Lawrence's mum, who should know more than most about the evils of racism, herself make remarks which could be construed as being racist. She is in an influential position and could use that to do her bit to unite.

Is the reason there is no Lee Rigby day or even a plaque where he was beheaded, is that he was white?

Was waiting for a bus for ages earlier.

Is that the idea?

Re: Happy Stephen Lawrence day.
Unfortunately, a key day in the history of British culture.

Not just because of the horrific death of a teenager - or indeed the culture of institutional racism it later "uncovered" within the Met. But, even more significantly, the culture of outright corruption that it helped to expose within Britain's biggest police force and the organisations that oversee it, assist it and operate around it.

I'm generally somebody who subscribes to a view of life that is more about cock-up than conspiracy.

But the Met, back in the day, was one of the most corrupt police forces in Europe - and probably the world. In Britain we like to think that could not be the case - it was. We like to think that "our" corruption is white collar and cultural, rather than the brown envelope, violent corruption of "elsewhere".

Not so - certainly not back then. The Met was awash with crime, with criminals and with cover-ups.

You've only got to look at the, ahem, "accidental" destruction of what the Met itself described as a "lorry load" of documents about historical corruption within its ranks to get a flavour of what the place was like.

You don't "accidentally" destroy this amount of files and documentation, btw. Hundreds, possibly thousands, of likely arrests, exposures and solved crimes involving police officers and their underworld contacts - all shredded and burned under our noses.

Why this wasn't front page news of every newspaper in the country for months, was beyond me. But that's the country we live in.

The muslims who control the media have little to no interest in the native victims of their calculated mass invasion

You could apply most of what you said to local authority councillors...then and now

Also regardless of creed or colour - if the Met has fucked up investigating a case or somebody has had the misfortune to be beaten into a cabbage in their custody even now it's extremely difficult for them to pay the price with their job or a prison sentence.

It's very difficult to send them down...a bit like councillors!

What a load of fucking bollox. Just because you have an axe to grind about the Met, don't make up shit like this. It just completely devalues any point you have to make.

What a fucking ignorant, uneducated comment... Jesus wept.

Ross Parker
Richard Everett
Kriss Donald

There only crime was being white.

Are there lives less important than Stephen Lawrence’s? Society would seem to say so.

We need to embrace "diversity" though.

Just have a National Stabbing Day.

Re: Happy Stephen Lawrence day.
southbank , spot on and the reason they were allowed to get away with it for so long was people like AOI and icwhs could never believe that a police force in this country could be so bent. Even the other forces knew about what the met was up to but for decades everyone turned a blind eye to it because like the two above they could never believe a police force in this country could be so corrupt.

Re: Happy Stephen Lawrence day.
Why do people get so upset when something is decided to be National Fucking Something Day?

Why do you really give a shit? It only means something to fill newsprint so why give Stephen Lawrence or anybody else for that matter a hard time about it?

With a P.R team and a news crew you can declare any day what you want it to be.

Tomorrow will be National Something Fucking Else Day

;-)
